Universal Language

from GreyEgg GrayAnt by Greg Grant

lyrics

Things may be the way they are
But somehow I still found a way to travel far
Now that I've been round the globe
I'd like to share a bit of what it is I think I know

Everywhere i've been people are the same
With different colored skin and different names
Different clothes, different gods, different drinks in their bars
But people everywhere liked the sound of my guitar

The politicians lie and make their self serving plans
Our so called leaders plot to keep us as divided as they can
The power lies with the people the kings and queens know that's true
But they know how to keep us fighting so there's not much we can do

It's hard to say that one way is best
And I just don't believe some are better than the rest
But people learn from people how to keep other people down
I've seen it in the cities, I've seen it in the towns

Things may be the way they are
But music helps me to stay free and travel far
I like to get into my guitar and ride
It takes me way up high above and deep down inside

A universal language is one we all understand
If you're yellow, white, black, red or brown, a woman or a man
For a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Pagan, Atheist or Jew
For a Buddhist or a Shaman, good music is the truth
